Hands-on Workshop: Introduction to Optimization for Abaqus

The “Introduction to Optimization for Abaqus Workshop” is a free ONLINE event for anyone who has some experience with Abaqus and would like to explore the possibilities of optimization. Both non-parametric topology optimization using Tosca and parametric optimization using Isight are discussed, focusing on the optimization of problems using the finite element code Abaqus.

This workshop is an ideal way to understand what Tosca or Isight can do and find out how to set up such an analysis. Part of this workshop consists of lecture sessions, covering the essential concepts of optimization and how this is approached in Tosca and Isight. Furthermore the workshop gives the attendees the opportunity try setting up an optimization problem themselves, and gain hands on experience.

An Isight, Abaqus & Tosca License is required to follow the hands-on part. (Extended Licensing – Power of the Portfolio)

What topics are discussed?

The workshop gives theoretical introductions to Optimization, Tosca and Isight, and subsequently processes and approaches are introduced by hands on tutorial examples.

   concept, available algorithms and settings, demo
3. Hands-on session Tosca
   Use Abaqus/CAE to set-up optimization of bending beam
4. Introduction to Isight
   Concept of Isight, possibilities for optimization, demo
5. Hands-on session Isight
   Get started with Isight; Couple Isight to Abaqus to optimize Abaqus analysis
